Hello Everyone! I wanted to write to you to catch you up on my recent trip to Zurich.
After a really difficult month I wanted to cheer myself up by taking a self care trip to Zurich so I hopped on the bus and arrived in the city on Friday evening. I woke early on the Saturday morning and ventured into the city.
First on my agenda was paying a visit to the Kanzlei flea market which takes place every Saturday. People were selling their old clothes or household items, and although I really enjoyed walking around and looking at all the items, I didn’t see anything I wanted to particularly buy, so I left empty handed.
There was a place very close to the flea market that had a vegan burger advertised, so I had my lunch there and it saved me the hassle of trying to find somewhere to eat so I took advantage of the opportunity, and I was not left disappointed. After lunch I walked around the city and took pictures before paying a visit to the Kunsthaus gallery.
The gallery absolutely blew me away, I was not expecting to see so many artworks of my favourite artists on display, like Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir, Matisse, amongst others. It was a really special experience and (not to get too personal) I found myself getting emotional walking around and seeing these paintings, it really taught me to appreciate beauty around me when times have been very difficult.
Afterwards I went to visit various shops, mostly bookshops and eventually purchased one. After a long day of walking around and exploring I made my way back to the hostel.
The next day there wasn’t a lot for me to do because it was Sunday and nearly everything was closed so I spent whatever time I had left in Zurich walking around the old town and window shopping before I had to leave and catch my bus back to Bologna, and admiring the views of the countryside and the beautiful farmhouses and cows on display, that I’ve always dreamed of witnessing.
Although my visit was brief, I loved every minute of it, and it was just what I needed to clear my head and Switzerland is such a beautiful and serene country, if you ever consider visiting I highly recommend you do.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my visit and I will write to you all soon
