Hello everyone! I’m sorry I haven’t written to you in a while but I’m hoping to write more blog posts about upcycling in the next few weeks. In the meantime I thought I’d spread more positivity with good eco news that has happened recently.

1. “Sand battery” discovered by Finnish researchers can store green power for months. Low grade sand is charged by solar or wind power and has the ability to store heat at 500 degrees Celsius and can heat homes in the winter.

2. The CEO of ExxonMobil announced that all sales of cars are to be made electric by 2040.

3. California has passed a law that requires 30% of single use plastic to be recyclable by 2028 (if this target is not met, the material will be banned by the state).

4. France produces offshore wind power for the first time and are expected to have 50 offshore wind turbines installed by 2050.

5. Canada will ban harmful plastics by the end of the year, including grocery bags, plastic cutlery, ring carriers and plastic straws. Manufacturing these products will be abolished in December 2022.
